Carfax Vehicle History Reports Become Integral Part of Vehicle Certification Process for Industry's Top-Selling Certified Pre-Owned Brand

DETROIT – General Motors today announced that GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry’s top-selling manufacturer-certified used brand*, has teamed with Carfax to make Carfax Vehicle History Reports a key component in the automaker’s used-vehicle certification process.
Beginning January 9, consumers receive Carfax Vehicle History Reports with delivery of their GM Certified Used Vehicles.

In addition to meeting GM Certified’s rigorous quality standards, every GM Certified Used Vehicle will now come with the Carfax Buyback Guarantee, indicating the vehicle does not contain any state DMV-reported vehicle problems, such as salvage, fire, flood, odometer problems or manufacturer buybacks. All GM Certified Used Vehicles, besides qualifying for the Carfax Buyback Guarantee, must pass a stringent 110-plus point mechanical and cosmetic inspection and reconditioning process and are supported by a three-month/3,000-mile comprehensive limited warranty, a three-day/150-mile customer satisfaction guarantee, and 24-hour roadside assistance during the term of the warranty

“When consumers purchase a GM Certified Used Vehicle they get the peace of mind that comes with buying a fully inspected and reconditioned vehicle from the GM brands they know and trust, from a dealer they know is going to be there for them,” said Paul Pejza, manager, GM Certified Used Vehicles. “Adding Carfax Vehicle History Reports, the industry’s most reliable source for vehicle history information, to our comprehensive certification process further strengthens the value and security for GM Certified customers.”

GM Certified Used Vehicles, which includes fully inspected and reconditioned, low-mileage used vehicles from Chevrolet, Pontiac, Buick, Oldsmobile and GMC, sold nearly 455,500 units in 2005, an annual sales record for the manufacturer-certified pre-owned vehicle segment*. GM Certified Used Vehicles has been the top-selling certified used brand since 2002 and Chevrolet is now the number-one selling single-line make certified used vehicle brand in America*.

GM Certified Used Vehicles offers the industry’s largest dealer network, with 3,600-plus dealers across the United States, and the largest available certified inventory – 70,000-plus units – of any manufacturer-certified program in the industry.
